A downloadable game for Windows and Linux

The Feathered Serpent is a 2d action-platformer that combines the fast-paced combat of a shooter game with randomly generated levels, enemies, and items!

It has heavy Roguelite elements, with a progression system of sacrificing blood to different gods for permanent upgrades. As you follow our protagonist on his journey, players will find many treasures and weapons that change how he attacks and combine together in unique combinations!

The Game is played by using your mouse cursor to aim and shoot at enemies, using special abilities and platforming mechanics to position yourself and take down everything that lies in your path.

A large part of the enjoyment in this game is figuring out what each item does and how it can interact with other items!

ENJOY - please feel free to post comments with suggestions, feedback, and bugs! I hope you enjoy the demo!

I would like to work with you on this. Is this a possibillity? I am not great at coding, but I have friends who are, I am good at visual design, and I could get this game BIG!!

I played your game

I loved the intro with the dialogs hapenning in game (but they're kinda fast) and the musics and their transitions are really awesome! Gameplay is pretty solid and fun, the replayability is amazing and the upgrade interactions are godlike. Graphics are simple but cool with foliage interaction and awesome varied backgrounds. The enemies are unique and interesting, behaving in cool expected ways with the right difficulty. Maybe you could add some permanent upgrades that make game more convenient... Like, i got some yellow eyes, they're really cool and all but i don't know what they do, MAYBE if these eyes made me see the item effects or enemy hp or secrets this could be interesting (and maybe they wear out too). I like the possibility to customise my build but i gotta know what everything do so i wont mess up big time and softblock myself, and something like Hades Boon list on the left sid could help to strategize. I wished i wasn't a poor brazilian unemployed beginner gamedev so i could support you, but it is as it is. When it launches i'll be one of the first!

This game is DOPE!

There were some issues with it repeating the same level over and over, but from playing previous builds there are a ton of different areas and enemies and bosses that are siiick, even if I couldn't get to them on this one.

Worth supporting!

Seems like I played an older build but still, pretty solid game, the idea is interesting, the  main character is cool and has some unique style but will definitely benefit from some lore or interactions; The backgrounds are really cool too, specially the underworld thing.

I also experienced crashes but I see that has been fixed.

Some things I did not enjoy were killing monkeys because they are too cute, maybe make them demon monkeys or something. The fact that there is no In game tutorial to learn the mechanics, and the lack of different items/weapons/skills.

The game definitely has a lot of potential, and I can't wait to see what becomes of it with a few updates.

Played the new build - and it is pretty darn good lol. Some pacing issues, and other bugs to be fixed, but you have clearly implemented a lot of fun items and skills/ideas that I can definitely make for a hundred hours of play.

I would look at your competition on multiple angles and learn from them how a gameplay loop should feel, how to set your pacing,

Rogue Lites - (Binding of Isaac, Slay the Spire, Hades)

Move and Shooters - Gungeon, Killing Floor, Borderlands,

Platformers - Megaman, Barotrauma, Starbound, Terraria

Indie Spectacle -  Starburster (another indie game I'm looking forward too)

I'm working on making a video and a documenting my QA notes and such. I'll hit you up with it later in a DM :P

Heads up - currently seeing the windows build will sometimes crash / closes when entering the second jungle area after the bow.

Update - got through on the third try. Might have have something to do with the layout I was seeing.

2nd Update - heavy stability issues: Game closing on multiple occurrences.

Crash Happening on

  • Player taking damage
  • Player dying
  • Enemy Dying
  • Entering a new area

I'm enjoying what I got to play so far, but with all these crashes I can't get past the first area and is currently unplayable in its current state. Would love to see an update so I could dig deeper into its mechanics!

Other issues:

  • Monkey Coconuts attacks will be destroyed upon throw depending on trajectory
  • Player can deal damage through walls diagonally
  • Camera does not track with player falling from high heights

Gonna be looking into fixing all of these today! Thank you so so so much for taking the time to make a video and type all this out! Definitely want to fix those crashes so you can see new content!

Its fun so far, maybe its just my Mac but I can't take damage with out the game crashing

hmmm I am definitely going to look into why there are so many crashes, thanks for letting me know!
